"I was genuinely so excited to try these gluten-free donuts, which unfortunately made the disappointment even bigger. As someone who eats gluten-free, I completely understand that gluten-free baked goods arenât going to be identical to traditional ones. I also understand that gluten-free ingredients cost more, and Iâm accustomed to paying a premium for good gluten-free food.
These are labeled as gluten-free cake donuts, so I expected them to be a little denser than a traditional fluffy donut. But there really wasnât anything donut-like about them other than the shape. The texture was extremely dense and almost mushyâmore like almond-flour batter baked into a donut-shaped mold than a cake donut.
Mine arrived warm, and the icing had melted almost completely off. They were also soft and mushy enough that I ended up eating mine with a fork, although the donut itself did hold together.
The flavor itself wasnât bad, which is why this was especially disappointing. For the price, I was expecting a really good gluten-free treat that still gave me the experience of eating a donut. Instead, I felt like I would have been much happier spending the same money on a good gluten-free cake or Bundt cake.
I really want to support businesses making homemade gluten-free options, and I hope the recipe or texture can be improved. But if youâre ordering these because youâre craving an actual donut, I would definitely adjust your expectations."

"I rarely eat donuts, however I had a craving at noon. I ordered 6 Pack of assorted donuts. When they arrived I noticed they were a little larger than mini donuts and also cake-like. I'm not a fan of those types of donuts because they're usually dry. These actually tastes good and quite hardy that I could only eat 1 every so often throughout the day.
The lemon frosted donut is terribly good and the rest of the donuts come in a close 2nd."

The powdered sugar tasted like a very thick funnel cake. It was absolutely delightful. The maple bacon was okay but not a favorite. Give them all a try, and you will not be disappointed."

"The size and flavor of the celebration cake is buttery, sweet, and impeccable. The red velvet cake unfortunately was really dry which is unusual because it has always been VERY moist coming from a patron of over 13 years to their California locations. It must have been an off day at the bakery.
The strawberry cupcake is creamy, tangy, with a hint of strawberry. I purchased two of the strawberry, one coconut, and one raspberry limited time offer cupcake in the 4 Box Cupcake Assortment. The presentation of them didn't have the signature Susie cakes look of carefully decorated nearly smoothed frosting.
While the vanilla layer cake was delicious, overall a majority of the cakes/cupcakes were dry instead of the moist cakes I have come to know and love.
I still recommend ordering from Susie cakes but it'd behoove you to go in person for fresh items. I think the door dash orders get day old or older items."
