"Lao Der is not shy when it comes to heat. When you ask for extra spicy, it's actually spicy. I don't know how much I can stress that, all places I go when I ask for extra spicy, it is never satisfying. Although it can get pricey (sticky rice, khao soy), this is my to go place when I want raw beef laab (Beef Tartare). I absolutely love the bamboo soup, although I had better. It is so rare to find, so this is actually perfect when you're too lazy to make it. oh, did I forget the chicken feet! Would love it even more if it is mixed with papaya sauce instead. Would be nice to have some shrimp paste and fresh chili with kao poon, kao piak, or any type of noodle dish."

"The portions are ridiculously small. The sticky rice was $5 and the tri-tip was $17. The sticky rice was about the size of my palm (I'm fairly petite-5 feet) so hopefully that explains how small the portion of sticky rice we got. The tri-tip was okay. The noodles on the chow mein weren't dry at all but were bouncy and very saucey in the best way.
