"The jerk chicken is always good and the portions are more than enough to enjoy leftovers if I don't finish it all at once."
"An NY transplant who was craving good jerk chicken. The jerk chicken entree hit the spot! Juicy, well-seasoned, chicken. I ordered coconut rice & plaintains as the 2 sides. They gave me rice & peas with plaintain instead. I would have liked to have been notified about the change but I was so satisfied that I didn't care. Sea moss drink is not homemade but decent. Mac & cheese was just ok to me. Could be seasoned more. Carrot cake looks good but I didn't try it yet. Good value. Would recommend for a solid meal with no frills"

"Tres golpe always hits but their Mangu,Huevo, salami y queso / Mangu,Egg, Salami & Cheese the mangu is made perfectly! The Avena Lg/ Oatmeal lg is tasteful and a good portion but they don't blend out the oats however it's still very good"
"Very flavorful! Although there is way more rice than meat I am a cook so I understand why... the cost of rice allows a business to serve more of it. Where as oxtails and pork is more expensive. This was very good so thank you! The Dulce de Dulce de leche / Sweet Milk is the only thing I would say disappointed me, I thought I was getting a Dominican cake of dulce de leche. The Roast Pork with white rice and beans was amazing!"

"First time trying Violets! The oxtail taste great! I hate when restaurants make it too salty, and this restaurant does NOT do that! They are flavorful, and they have that little sweetness to it that I like! Rice and peas were flavorful and fluffy, and the cabbage was great! the portions are also fair! They weren't skimpy on the oxtail Thank goodness!"
"They gave me oxtail gravy on my rice and peas without me having to put it on the notes for them to do so. I was happy. They did really good. I just wished they gave away more Jerk Chicken tho cuz two wasn't enough but overall, it was real good"

"The platters were sooo good and seasoned to perfection!!! Nice portons. The Stewed chicken special and the Curried Chicken Roti the flavor is on point, hands down 5 stars in regard to flavor. The only negative issue (but not so negative) I would have to say wouldbe that I would have preferred chicken pieces in the roti to not have the bones, lol. I was enjoying it so much when I went to bite down, I bit into a large bone. So had to remove the bones. Overall, hands down a must try. I will be ordering again. They were sold out of the Pound Cake but did offer me a coconut as replacement. The coconut cake is pretty good also."
"This was my first time ordering from Island Spot and to be honest I was scared. It's the fourth Caribbean restaurant I've tried and I was worried because of past experiences.
The way the carefully wapped the food was impressive. I have not seen that. The mixed steamed veggies were not soggy but crunchy and flavorful. The Medium Curried Chicken was a nice portionfor the price and very good. The rice and peas was fresh and wasn't dry or soggy, just right.
Although they delivered quicker than the estimated 30 mins, the food was a bit cold. I was also unable to choose between white rice or rice and peas, which I found odd. "

"Best Dominican food in Bayonne.. the sandwiches and small fried appetizers are always amazing. They make the best lemonade. And so affordable. I love this spot."
"I was disappointed with my meal overall. The Pernil / Roast Pork and Tostones were both very dry, and the Jugo de Mango was so tart that it was difficult to enjoy. I also expected more from the Chicken Soup / Sopa de Pollo—it contained one small potato and didn’t feel very hearty.
On a positive note, the Bistec Encebollado / Carmelized Onion Steak was delicious and full of flavor. The rice and beans were also very good, and the Maduros were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the dry meats and disappointing soup overshadowed the meal, so I don’t think I’ll be returning."

"2nd time ordering from here. The 1st time, the fish was bland but the black rice was good. This time, everything was bland, not bad but bland. The food is consistently ok, not great."

"This place is as beautiful and the food is amazing! The chicken was so juicy and tasty. Plantains were fresh, perfectly salted, and crisp. I wish the rasta pasta was a little less dry. Overall, amazing and pretty plating, I didn't even wanted to ruin the presentation. "
"The Jerk Chicken had great flavor and a nice smoky char, but it was on the dry side, and chopping it up left a lot of small, tough, bony pieces. If it weren't for how many bony pieces I received, I'd say this was a good portion for the price.
The rice and peas was a real letdown. It tasted completely unseasoned, and I unfortunately got stuck with clumps from the bottom of the pot that were dry, mushy, and devoid of any coconut or herbal flavor. The house jerk sauce had a decent tang and helped rescue the dry chicken, but overall, it missed the mark.
Would I order again? Maybe, but there are better places for jerk chicken so not anytime soon"

"Absolutely loved my Coconut Curry Shrimp. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty. Authentic Trinidadian flavor.... the food melts in your mouth. I will be ordering again.... soon!"
"The curry goat roti for $24.49 was not worth the price!! The meal was with only 4 small pieces of meat that had a lot of chipped bones in the gravy, plus there was a lot of potatoes that I didn't care for. It also came with a small scoop of pumpkin and channa.. considering how inexpensive pumpkin and channa is the serving size could have been better. Definitely a 2 out of 10 rating!!!"

"I'm here from a different state , whenever I go to another state. I always make it my business to taste Haitian food. Magela's your tomtom gumbo is delicious, very flavorful, 10/10 . Next time I'm in town, I will definitely buy it again. The goat meat are way too big for me and I did not get any pikliz which makes it hard for me to eat the goat because it's not spicy. The same for the pig ears. The plantain is not fried to perfection. They are big and not crispy but tasty. If you had sent me one little pikliz my taste buds would have been happier. I will definitely recommend Magela's to my friends and families. By the way I saw that the pikliz was $2+ but I thought that was for extra, I don't know any Haitian restaurant that serves food without pikliz. I will make sure to add pikliz next time. The Akra was not too flavorful but eatable."
"Been craving Haitian food for a while, and I’m so glad I found this spot in East Orange, NJ. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. "As a Jacan, Trinis make the best roti period. Glad this restaurant came across my feed. Best roti in this side of town."
"I was so excited to see a TT cafe nearby I just had to try it.
Staring with the Doubles , the pepper had a very spiced mustardy taste, which I loved. I hate when something is just hot for nothing, it was both hot and flavorful. The barra was a little bigger than I'm used to but as a result one was enough. Very pleasant, 8/10.
The bake and Saltfish stole the show honestly. It was still so very hot when it arrived, the bake was quite fresh as well as the saltfish. Pleasantly seasoned. This is going to be my go to. 11/10 please don't ever change this!
The Buss Up was nice, standard. I loved it. Going to go great with my meal tonight.
Lastly the Aloo Pie could've been better. I would've liked to try it without the extra sauces, as the flavors overwhelmed the pie.
I wish the Currant Rolls were in stock, I crave them so bad. Next time though, as I'll surely be ordering again. Thank you to the staff!"

"Amazing the OXTAILS was cooked to perfection ! Not hard falling off the bone ! Great value ! This will be my new spot they gave enough oxtails between 8-9 pieces which is great ! "
"I have always liked the taste of their food better than any other Jamaican restaurant I've tried in my area:. Only issue is that most times I order, I am missing food. They run out after I've ordered and they just scratch that off the order and deliver the rest. I am not aware of the deletion until the food arrives. Very disappointing! Same thing today, but in addition I ordered a large and there was not very much food in the container."

"I just moved to NJ, and I have been unable to find good carribean food. Thankfully, I ordered from here, and I was not disappointed. My order came within 30 minutes, even on a Saturday evening. The food was seasoned perfectly, portions are generous, and the food was HOT!!! Chicken patty crust was soft and flaky. I will definitely order from here again. Thank you."
"Where do I begin.
I ordered oxtail with white rice and Fried Sweet Plantains.
I only got 3 pieces of oxtail with gravy that looked like It was sitting for days no flavor
Fried Sweet Plantains taste like oil..
oh and the soup has noooo flavor at allll with one dumpling n a piece of chicken...
my 4 yr old didn't even enjoy it and she eats everything..
If anything go into the baking business...

"Food was very flavorful, meat was thoroughly cooked, restaurant reached out to offer a replacement for an out of stock item which turned out to be delicious, loved the stew chicken which was my replacement! Also I enjoyed the food having a mild spice level, nothing was overly spicy."
"Jerk Salmon wasn't jerk at all.. just bbq sauce.. & the meal was mostly rice... the rice & peas had no coconut in it...4/10..the Curry Goat was good but again even though I ordered a large it was mostly rice... even under the curry goat it was rice.. taste 7/10 but overall 5/10...will not be ordering from here again "

"I'm fairly new to African cuisine, and today I tried the Banku and okro soup. It was AMAZING! I planned to take a picture, but I dug right in! The portions were so generous that I have enough for 2 meals. I've tried a few African restaurants recently, and Tasti Cuisine is definitely my favorite so far! The lady who answered the phone was also super sweet and helpful. Great food and great customer service! I'll definitely be back!"
