"If you're craving a Gyro, you will be more than satisfied with one from Spitz. Both the Spitz gyro with potato fries inside and the OG "Greek" Gyro are excellent, though my personal preference lies with the OG because both kinds of potato starch in the other is a bit too much for me.
At some point I'm sure I will have tried all of the sides but so far, I've only had the potato waffle fries with Aoli sauce. Oh my God, that sauce paired with those fries are some kind of Ambrosia. I've never had better "fries with sauce" anywhere, ever in my life.
The value could be a tad better but where it's at is not crazy by any means.
I've eaten from Spitz twice and whole heartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether they've had Greek food before or not."

The lamb had an extremely strong, gamey flavor that completely overwhelmed the dish. Even after covering it in hot sauce just to make it edible, the taste lingered in my mouth long afterward. I’ve had lamb before and understand it has a distinct flavor, but this was far beyond what I’d consider enjoyable.
To make matters worse, the “chips” served with the meal weren’t fries or house-made chips—they were essentially plain Ruffles-style potato chips. For the price, that was disappointing.
Overall, the meal was a huge letdown, especially for a Father’s Day meal. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the lamb gyro was genuinely unpleasant and not something I would ever order again."

Between Michigan’s incredible Arab food scene and years of eating Syrian food both at home and in restaurants, I have a pretty solid idea of what I’m hoping for when I order shawarma.
Sizzle is good for Denver, but Denver desperately needs more honest representation of Middle Eastern food.
The chicken here was flavorful and well browned, but it lacked what I love most about real spit-roasted shawarma: thin shavings with those deeply roasted, crispy edges mixed with juicy meat. The platter was also overwhelmingly rice-forward, with the hummus reduced to a small scoop in the corner. The shawarma-and-hummus plates I grew up eating centered the hummus—shawarma piled directly over a generous plate of it, drizzled with olive oil, ideally with toasted pine nuts, warm pita alongside, and rice as a side rather than the foundation of the meal.
I also ordered the dolma, and while I obviously can’t say how they were prepared, they looked and tasted remarkably like commercially canned dolma. That was disappointing from a Middle Eastern restaurant.
I actually want places like this to succeed. Denver has large and growing Middle Eastern communities, and the food deserves to be represented with the same confidence and care you find in places like Metro Detroit. Don’t adapt it into another generic “Mediterranean rice bowl” because you think that’s what American customers expect. Some of us Americans are here because we want the real thing.
Give me the crispy shawarma. Give me the giant plate of hummus. Hell, charge me for the pine nuts. 😂 I’ll pay for them. Just let Middle Eastern food be Middle Eastern food."
