"Ate it too fast to take pictures, but... the Oxtail fell off the bone just like it should, and the rice and peas were delicious. It was a massive portion of food, too. Well worth the price.
The Macaroni & cheese wasn't creamy the way I prefer it, but it was cheesy and flavorful. All around -- very good, very filling."

"Food is always good Curry Goat portions and taste great and fresh.
Female workers are very respectful and polite! She even called to ask me if I'd want rice and peas because it's no more white rice . Order again and again"
"They're usually excellent with their orders. For some reason their Oxtail Beef tasted like jerk seasoning which is unusual AND on top of it I ordered a large and was literally given only tiny small oxtail with fat. No large sizes of oxtail and the value was nothing compared to the last time I ordered. Not pleased this time. I sure hope I don't have this issue in the future."

"The platters were sooo good and seasoned to perfection!!! Nice portons. The Stewed chicken special and the Curried Chicken Roti the flavor is on point, hands down 5 stars in regard to flavor. The only negative issue (but not so negative) I would have to say wouldbe that I would have preferred chicken pieces in the roti to not have the bones, lol. I was enjoying it so much when I went to bite down, I bit into a large bone. So had to remove the bones. Overall, hands down a must try. I will be ordering again. They were sold out of the Pound Cake but did offer me a coconut as replacement. The coconut cake is pretty good also."
"This was my first time ordering from Island Spot and to be honest I was scared. It's the fourth Caribbean restaurant I've tried and I was worried because of past experiences.
The way the carefully wapped the food was impressive. I have not seen that. The mixed steamed veggies were not soggy but crunchy and flavorful. The Medium Curried Chicken was a nice portionfor the price and very good. The rice and peas was fresh and wasn't dry or soggy, just right.
Although they delivered quicker than the estimated 30 mins, the food was a bit cold. I was also unable to choose between white rice or rice and peas, which I found odd. "

"Food was great! All of the food came fresh. There was plenty of jerk sauce on the chicken and large portions. The Macaroni and Cheese was good but lacked some flavor and was partly dry. The Jerk Chicken itself made it all great. I would definitely recommend this place "
"The brown stew chicken was dry and bland and there was a platter full of rice and 3 small pieces of chicken mostly bone.
The jerk chicken orders both were wrong because they had bbq sauce on both orders and I have a child with sensory sensitivity so they can't eat sauce. The bbq sauce was all over the salad, rice, and chicken. The issue is I requested no sauce and it's an option that was provided to not have sauce."

"I couldn't even take a picture of the food because the way I demolished it was insane lol . Got the Whiting Combo Sm and Whitting Sandwich along with 2 drinks. The portions? Well worth the money. The fish? Nice and flavorful and freshly crisp . The Mac and cheeseee? It was actually Mac and Cheese thank GOD. The food was 1000/10 and I will be back"
"The Oxtail. Dinner is mid. The yams are from a can and canned yams will always be a negative. The Mac and cheese is ok nothing to write home about. You do receive a healthy portion of oxtail and it's not just bones. Taste wise, they lack flavor and spice. We need an option of extra oxtail gravy. The cornbread is a tad dry but buttery and sweet, however, the dryness could because it's overcooked. "

"I ordered fried saltfish and asked in the special instructions if I could substitute provisions and boiled dumplings for rice and beans. Someone from the restaurant called to let me know that was fine but they were a little low on saltfsh and would I be ok if they mixed it with callaloo and I said yes. "As a Jacan, Trinis make the best roti period. Glad this restaurant came across my feed. Best roti in this side of town."
"I was so excited to see a TT cafe nearby I just had to try it.
Staring with the Doubles , the pepper had a very spiced mustardy taste, which I loved. I hate when something is just hot for nothing, it was both hot and flavorful. The barra was a little bigger than I'm used to but as a result one was enough. Very pleasant, 8/10.
The bake and Saltfish stole the show honestly. It was still so very hot when it arrived, the bake was quite fresh as well as the saltfish. Pleasantly seasoned. This is going to be my go to. 11/10 please don't ever change this!
The Buss Up was nice, standard. I loved it. Going to go great with my meal tonight.
Lastly the Aloo Pie could've been better. I would've liked to try it without the extra sauces, as the flavors overwhelmed the pie.
I wish the Currant Rolls were in stock, I crave them so bad. Next time though, as I'll surely be ordering again. Thank you to the staff!"

"The curry goat roti for $24.49 was not worth the price!! The meal was with only 4 small pieces of meat that had a lot of chipped bones in the gravy, plus there was a lot of potatoes that I didn't care for. It also came with a small scoop of pumpkin and channa.. considering how inexpensive pumpkin and channa is the serving size could have been better. Definitely a 2 out of 10 rating!!!"

Curry Chicken Roti
Curry Chicken Roti is a hearty and flavorful Caribbean dish that showcases the island’s rich culinary heritage. It features tender, bone-in chicken pieces marinated and slow-cooked in a fragrant curry sauce infused with a medley of spices such as turmeric, cumin, garlic, and fresh herbs. The curry is enriched with soft potatoes and sometimes chickpeas, creating a savory, slightly spicy filling with layers of bold flavor.
This delicious filling is wrapped in a warm, soft roti, a flatbread similar to Indian paratha or dhalpuri, which is thin and slightly flaky. The combination of the curry’s robust flavors and the roti’s tender texture makes it a satisfying meal perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a special occasion.
Trinidad Curry Chicken Roti is a true taste of Trinidad, blending Indian culinary traditions with the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean, making it a beloved dish across the island and beyond.

**Trinidad Curry Goat Roti**
Trinidad Curry Goat Roti is a beloved dish that celebrates the island’s rich culinary traditions with bold, earthy flavors. It features succulent pieces of goat meat, typically cooked bone-in for maximum flavor, slowly simmered in a fragrant curry sauce. This sauce is made with a blend of spices like turmeric, cumin, garam masala, and fresh aromatics such as garlic, ginger, and thyme. Scotch bonnet peppers add a gentle heat, while tender potatoes are often included to create a rich and satisfying gravy.
The curry is enveloped in a soft, flaky roti, such as dhalpuri (stuffed with ground split peas) or buss-up-shot (torn paratha). The roti soaks up the flavorful curry, making every bite a perfect harmony of spice, texture, and aroma.
Curry Goat Roti is a staple of Trinidadian cuisine, often enjoyed during special occasions, family gatherings, or as a hearty meal any day of the week. Its robust, spicy, and savory profile captures the essence of Trinid

"I was under the weather, and figured Sopa de Pollo / Chicken Soup was the right move. I looked around and figured I'd try Costambar since it was close and relatively quick. I have genuinely never had a better chicken soup in my life. I don't even like yucca, and this worked incredibly well with it. Honestly, better than most sancocho I've had. it was flavorful and the consistency of sancocho, but with its own direction and a few noodles."
"Be prepared to get more starch than meat with the lunch portions...for example, I got the Chicharon de Pollo / Fried Chicken and there's more chicharon on a scarecrow than the serving...BUT it was DELICIOUS. The yuca needed a little more moisture-just a bit dry. Mangu 3 Golpe EXCELLENT. Platanos perfect-not greasy-not burned-just right, but cold. I blame the driver for that not the restaurant. He prob had it all in his trunk SMH; cold outside. Would I order again? 75% yes. "

"I'm here from a different state , whenever I go to another state. I always make it my business to taste Haitian food. Magela's your tomtom gumbo is delicious, very flavorful, 10/10 . Next time I'm in town, I will definitely buy it again. The goat meat are way too big for me and I did not get any pikliz which makes it hard for me to eat the goat because it's not spicy. The same for the pig ears. The plantain is not fried to perfection. They are big and not crispy but tasty. If you had sent me one little pikliz my taste buds would have been happier. I will definitely recommend Magela's to my friends and families. By the way I saw that the pikliz was $2+ but I thought that was for extra, I don't know any Haitian restaurant that serves food without pikliz. I will make sure to add pikliz next time. The Akra was not too flavorful but eatable."
"Been craving Haitian food for a while, and I’m so glad I found this spot in East Orange, NJ. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Portions are generous, more than enough and the prices are very reasonable. This was my second order, and it’s officially my go-to spot whenever I’m in town."

"Best customer service ever. I order the pernil lunch special and it was delicious and there pan con queso. Ive also ordered the yaroa with sweet plantains with pernil and that was also good. That same day I ordered bolitas de yuca and another appetizer he store reached out to me and mentioned that they didnt have it for rn so they asked me if I wanted maduros instead and I said yes. When my order arrived they also left me a gift which was mini empanadas that were really good. I would give this a 10/10 for the food and the great service."
"Presentation was great, but the food was underwhelming. I was really looking forward to this meal and left disappointed. The chicken lacked flavor, and the yuca was drenched in vinegar, making it nearly inedible. For the price and expectation, I expected much better. Truly disappointing."

"ordered the fried chicken, it was pretty decent. only thing I didn't like is the fact they only gave one piece of meat when usually as a Jamaican, when you buy a small food, it's usually 3 piece a meat that's served.. otherwise from that, the chicken was seasoned well."

"I love this place. The Alfajores are amazing: super fresh and the flavor is perfect. The Banana Loaf is very good: the texture is fluffy and so flavorful. The empanadas are my favorite, especially the mushroom with maduro. They are paired with a chimichurri-like sauce and the combination of the flavors are so delicious. "
"The fried yucca appetizer and short rib meal, both tasted like the oil was old and rancid. $9.20 for a quantity of white rice that is usually $2. Overall, it was oily, bland, and definitely not worth the price. This was simply one of the worst meals I've had in a while."
