"I love Melo's! Mainly because since moving to the West coast 46 years ago I've had a terribly bad time trying to find a pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, or dipping sauce that could measure up to the pizza and other sauces that I had growing up in Chicago. "Everything I've had here is absolutely fresh and delicious. It is very apparent they use high-quality ingredients. The Lobster Ravioli was a Valentine's Special that they ended up adding to their regular menu - and I'm so glad they did. The flavors are well-balanced making it the perfect Spring dish. It would be great to add option of adding baby shrimp. Also got linguini with Alfredo and added salmon which was perfect, you could tell it was homemade fresh pasta and salmon was cooked a little more than I like but it was still very excellent with the linguini Alfredo. "For some reason I don't see my review from 2 nights ago, 9/4/24. So, I am going to re-state the sentiments I have for this place.
-In short, THE FOOD was an EPIC FAIL!!!
As it was already late in the evening & craving pasta, our favorite Italian restos nearby were closed for delivery. First time to order here & did so with DoorDash. The Dasher delivered it fast (thank you), & the order came still nice and warm...but that was the only good thing about this order. Besides the portions being very small, all the dishes were super-duper, very, very salty (they were inedible)! ALL OF THEM! We ordered 4 dishes: Guazzetto Di Mare ($19.95), Carbonara ($24.95), Vegan Cauliflower Linguini ($23.95), Strozzapreti ($27.95).
I expected the clams in the Guazzetto to have natural sweetness & saltiness to them, but this dish had more than seawater saltiness so you know there was too much salt added there. First taste of the broth by sopping the 2 small pieces of grilled bread that came with the dish, & was downhill from there. Even the clams were too salty! All the other dishes were the same, so there was no excuse that this was a one-off.
I called the restaurant within 20 mins of food arrival, & spoke with the manager, Rosario. He explained the natural saltiness of the clams and the cheeses, which I understand, as we've had these dishes at other restaurants- no problems. But these were obviously OVERSALTED by the kitchen. He offered to remake the dishes for me, but only if I had to pick them up...but we can't & thus, the reason we had our dinner delivered. I explained that the reason for my call anyway was to inform them, not expecting freebies. But in the end, it was time & money wasted, literally leaving a bad taste in your mouth. We retreated back to our kitchen, with no more time to make dinner for ourselves, & resorted to cookies in the cupboard.
Their kitchen staff needs to taste the pasta water to start, & taste the food before they are served/boxed to customers.

"PAL has been one of my fav restaurants since the day it opened.
It's been about a year or so since my last visit, but the Heirloom Potato Pizza has stood the test of time. It was as good as the first time I orderd it.
The Apple and Wild Arugula Salad was delicious but could haveused some toasted walnuts or pecans.
I really wanted to order the warm Brussels sprout salad but wasn't able to request "no bacon." I love that ordering on Door Dash allows so many additions to items ordered, but it would be great if PAL allowed items to be removed as well.

I honestly do not understand how this location has the ratings it does because this was one of the worst restaurant delivery experiences I’ve had in a very long time, especially for a >$100 order.
This restaurant is literally one block away from me, and it took about an hour for the food to arrive.
When the food finally arrived, the order was missing the Pizookie entirely. The deep dish nachos were honestly embarrassing. Many of the chips were burnt nearly black, and for $19 there were barely any toppings at all. There was no guacamole, no salsa, and no sour cream. The toppings that did exist were scattered over the top few chips, while the rest of the container was basically just burnt chips with almost nothing on them.
The chicken broccoli Alfredo came with what appeared to be a single broccoli stem, not even actual broccoli florets, and a few slices of chicken. The Parmesan crusted chicken was also missing the lemon sauce, the bottom of the container look partially melted like it was sitting near or on a heating element.
How a restaurant can display multiple quality control failures across almost every item in the order is impressive. To add insult to injury the response to the incomplete and poor-quality order was a $33 credit or the option to wait another hour for replacement food. That is an absurd resolution considering the amount of money spent and the I condition the food arrived in."
