"I tried the NEW Kickin' Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup today for a nice lunch during work. The first spoonful I had of the soup, I knew I had ordered the right thing for today. It was really flavourful and creamy, it wasn't watery. It had some chunks of tomatoes for richness but if you don't like chunks you can easily leave them out as there's only a few, the rest is so smooth. The bread wasnt as toasted I expected in the grilled cheese but the salsa verde is so good in it, it tasted great. It goes really well with the soup. "I gave Salulita 3 tries and it's very hit or miss. I'm not sure what oil or fat they use to cook their food with, but it always tastes like rancid oil. Any food we have had that isn't cooked on a flat top seems better, but my entire group said the same thing.
The Chips /Salasa and the margaritas are good, but they refuse to put prices on the drink menu, so basically they can charge you whatever they want. We ordered the "house margarita" on two different occasions and they charged different prices. Also, be forewarned the house marg is huge, has 2 shots, and is enough for two people.
The food ranges from just okay to terrible, but the chips/salsa and margaritas are great, so worth it for that alone. Ambiance is fun too."

Villanorte really stands out on DoorDash. The food arrived fresh and clearly just made — not greasy, not heavy, and definitely not like a chain. Everything tasted homemade in the best way.
What surprised me most is how clean it feels. I’ve never ordered Mexican food and actually felt good afterward until now. Full of flavor without being oily or overdone. It’s comforting without being too much.
They also sell homemade tamales, which is huge. You don’t even need to go to downtown Detroit for good tamales anymore. I just had a dozen delivered and, honestly, the quality was unreal, better than a lot of places people swear by. Fresh made daily, their grandmothers recipe, and clearly not mass-produced.
You can tell care goes into every part of the food, the salsas, the rice, the tacos, street corn. If you’re tired of generic Mexican options and want something that feels real and thoughtfully made, Villanorte is worth ordering. This is going into my regular rotation.
