"Ate it too fast to take pictures, but... the Oxtail fell off the bone just like it should, and the rice and peas were delicious. It was a massive portion of food, too. Well worth the price.
The Macaroni & cheese wasn't creamy the way I prefer it, but it was cheesy and flavorful. All around -- very good, very filling."
"10/10 for the Rasta Pasta (Shrimp & Jerk Chicken) , and the Chicken Soup. Both were extremely flavorful, chicken was juicy, and proportions were amazing. Tried this place on a whim, and would order again!"

"Food is always good Curry Goat portions and taste great and fresh.
Female workers are very respectful and polite! She even called to ask me if I'd want rice and peas because it's no more white rice . Order again and again"
"They're usually excellent with their orders. For some reason their Oxtail Beef tasted like jerk seasoning which is unusual AND on top of it I ordered a large and was literally given only tiny small oxtail with fat. No large sizes of oxtail and the value was nothing compared to the last time I ordered. Not pleased this time. I sure hope I don't have this issue in the future."

"This jerk chicken is so delicious! It tasted like authentic Jamaican cuisine...not just some jerk sauce slapped on some chicken. Made me feel like I was in Jamaica! This was our first time ordering from here. We will definitely be ordering again!"
"Oxtails here were pretty good. I would order again. The jerk chicken was Smokey but they forgot my jerk sauce. It was definitely good but more chicken for the price. Stewed pork wasn't the best. Mac and cheese reminded me of Popeyes which isn't bad. Cabbage was delicious and spicy. Rice and peas by the time I got it was very glued together, not the best. I paid extra for oxtail gravy on the rice and it was almost nothing there. Overall the veggies, Mac, jerk, and oxtails were pretty good and I'd order again."

"The platters were sooo good and seasoned to perfection!!! Nice portons. The Stewed chicken special and the Curried Chicken Roti the flavor is on point, hands down 5 stars in regard to flavor. The only negative issue (but not so negative) I would have to say wouldbe that I would have preferred chicken pieces in the roti to not have the bones, lol. I was enjoying it so much when I went to bite down, I bit into a large bone. So had to remove the bones. Overall, hands down a must try. I will be ordering again. They were sold out of the Pound Cake but did offer me a coconut as replacement. The coconut cake is pretty good also."
"This was my first time ordering from Island Spot and to be honest I was scared. It's the fourth Caribbean restaurant I've tried and I was worried because of past experiences.
The way the carefully wapped the food was impressive. I have not seen that. The mixed steamed veggies were not soggy but crunchy and flavorful. The Medium Curried Chicken was a nice portionfor the price and very good. The rice and peas was fresh and wasn't dry or soggy, just right.
Although they delivered quicker than the estimated 30 mins, the food was a bit cold. I was also unable to choose between white rice or rice and peas, which I found odd. "

"Wow! I ordered a large Jerk Chicken Dinner and it was excellent! The portion size was perfect, the chicken was made to perfection, Rice and beans were authentic (not out the box) cabbage and plantains were superb. I had scrolled past this restaurant on door dash for years and never ordered from there, I'm glad I took a chance. Worth every dollar, I didnt get cheated as some place do. "Food was great! All of the food came fresh. There was plenty of jerk sauce on the chicken and large portions. The Macaroni and Cheese was good but lacked some flavor and was partly dry. The Jerk Chicken itself made it all great. I would definitely recommend this place "
"The brown stew chicken was dry and bland and there was a platter full of rice and 3 small pieces of chicken mostly bone.
The jerk chicken orders both were wrong because they had bbq sauce on both orders and I have a child with sensory sensitivity so they can't eat sauce. The bbq sauce was all over the salad, rice, and chicken. The issue is I requested no sauce and it's an option that was provided to not have sauce."

But the food came wrapped up nicely and that is good because I know the restaurant cares enough to make sure my order was right. "
"The food was horrible,I ordered a large ,they gave me no mild sauce ,the chicken wasn't fresh,a spoonful of cabbage ,and a ton of dry rice, for 50$ I will never eat from golden Krust again they should be ashamed, they gave me old bananas and tried to pass them off as plaintains ,disgusting ,I'm so angry I paid my good money for garbage !!!!!"

"As a Jacan, Trinis make the best roti period. Glad this restaurant came across my feed. Best roti in this side of town."
"I was so excited to see a TT cafe nearby I just had to try it.
Staring with the Doubles , the pepper had a very spiced mustardy taste, which I loved. I hate when something is just hot for nothing, it was both hot and flavorful. The barra was a little bigger than I'm used to but as a result one was enough. Very pleasant, 8/10.
The bake and Saltfish stole the show honestly. It was still so very hot when it arrived, the bake was quite fresh as well as the saltfish. Pleasantly seasoned. This is going to be my go to. 11/10 please don't ever change this!
The Buss Up was nice, standard. I loved it. Going to go great with my meal tonight.
Lastly the Aloo Pie could've been better. I would've liked to try it without the extra sauces, as the flavors overwhelmed the pie.
I wish the Currant Rolls were in stock, I crave them so bad. Next time though, as I'll surely be ordering again. Thank you to the staff!"

"I ordered fried saltfish and asked in the special instructions if I could substitute provisions and boiled dumplings for rice and beans. Someone from the restaurant called to let me know that was fine but they were a little low on saltfsh and would I be ok if they mixed it with callaloo and I said yes. Well I will be asking for that again and referring this restaurant. Food was PERFECTION. "I'm here from a different state , whenever I go to another state. I always make it my business to taste Haitian food. Magela's your tomtom gumbo is delicious, very flavorful, 10/10 . Next time I'm in town, I will definitely buy it again. The goat meat are way too big for me and I did not get any pikliz which makes it hard for me to eat the goat because it's not spicy. The same for the pig ears. The plantain is not fried to perfection. They are big and not crispy but tasty. If you had sent me one little pikliz my taste buds would have been happier. I will definitely recommend Magela's to my friends and families. By the way I saw that the pikliz was $2+ but I thought that was for extra, I don't know any Haitian restaurant that serves food without pikliz. I will make sure to add pikliz next time. The Akra was not too flavorful but eatable."
"Been craving Haitian food for a while, and I’m so glad I found this spot in East Orange, NJ. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. "I was under the weather, and figured Sopa de Pollo / Chicken Soup was the right move. I looked around and figured I'd try Costambar since it was close and relatively quick. I have genuinely never had a better chicken soup in my life. I don't even like yucca, and this worked incredibly well with it. Honestly, better than most sancocho I've had. it was flavorful and the consistency of sancocho, but with its own direction and a few noodles."
"Be prepared to get more starch than meat with the lunch portions...for example, I got the Chicharon de Pollo / Fried Chicken and there's more chicharon on a scarecrow than the serving...BUT it was DELICIOUS. The yuca needed a little more moisture-just a bit dry. Mangu 3 Golpe EXCELLENT. Platanos perfect-not greasy-not burned-just right, but cold. I blame the driver for that not the restaurant. and we were very happy with the freshnesss. We would always reorder them! The chicken portion is so large and it would honestly make two meals! We love that we can choose the two sides and don't need to order rice that we normally don't eat at all. This helps us make sure we are getting great value for our money! We will say though that $15 for the CAMARONES AL AJILLO is a bit too much for us, as there were only 6 shrimps total. However they were delicious. The PAISITA is great value because it has a large portion and has a delicious variety of food items. The chicken empanada was amazing and I can't wait to have another! Overall we were extremely happy with our order and would recommend this place all the time! Thank you!"

"This might be the best Haitian food I've ever had in New Jersey. The food wasn't too dry and the meat was tender juicy with great seasoning. I truly enjoyed the goat meat and oxtail. I appreciated finding this place in the middle of the night!"
"Authentic, top quality, delicious Haitian food. I only realized how long its been since I had real Haitian food like this because there are so many fusion spot, or "modern" Haitian food restaurants. The rice Brown Rice, the Stewed Vegetables/Legume, the Fried Pork/Griot. everything was amazing."

"delicious Curry Goat and the Pine Tart was awesome!"
"I ordered a small callaloo and saltfish with fried dumplings. The dumplings were very hard and I was not able to chew them, and there was hardly any saltfish. The meal was also very small for the price (see photo). So considering this along with the fact that there was almost no saltfish and the dumplings were inedible, I don't feel I received my money's worth."

"The cuban sandwich was great and had a really good flavor. The sauces that come with it put it over the top. Highly recommended. "
"Cuban Sandwich Cubano / Cuban Sandwich was not authentic does not have pickles.
They charged $3.25 for one ham Ham Croquettes which was tiny smaller than mozzarella stick. That is absurd. We ordered two of the Ropa Vieja o Carne Ripiada / Shredded Beef and the meat portion was not sufficient it was mostly rice and two different rices. Terrible never again."

"had the GENTLE Jerk Chicken Platter cook well and tasty like it was cooked out on BBQ. surprisingly bbq jerk blend flavor I wouldnt call super authentic but fresh and delicious indeed. the rice and veg was good too! Taste like a really nice home cooked meal. Jamaican Patties were okay"

"This tasted great, and I will definitely order again. The home fries w/ peppers and onions, are the best I've tasted from any restaurant in the area. The bacon was cooked perfectly. The only request I have is that they add an option to add cheese to the eggs. The price could be lower considering it's just eggs, meat, home fries, and toast, but it's comparable to other restaurants in the area. They should offer a reward for every $100 spent over time, for $15 off the next order, and/or buy 1 get 1 50% off. They could also include fresh juice w/ the platter, like a combination meal. This would make their restaurant's breakfast stand out, and be very popular."
"Alcapurria was undercooked, Rabo (Oxtail) Empanada was just ok but kind of dry and small for the price. From this experience and a precious one I'm certain I wouldn't eat from this place again. They also forgot to send one item."
