"Disappointed: bland & lacking flavor balance
Drunken Noodles had little flavor. Vegetables were mostly uncooked and very difficult to chew, which I guess is a creative choice. As well, cuts of mushrooms that were impossible to chew, quite disappointing.
I ordered spring rolls from the vegetarian menu selection and I got pork and shrimp rolls :/ So those were inedible.
The Thai iced tea was 1) small for 7.75, not good value for TEA! 2) even tasted watered down, barely any cream at the bottom to mix in with the tea. Super disappointing.
The mango sticky rice was ok. Rice was mostly flavorless. The sauce was super sweet, no salty balance. The mango was also not very good. Sweet but not the sour balance. It was not a good texture either. Usually a restaurant will not serve mango sticky rice if the mangos are not juicy and ripe. This one was not ideal.
All in all I would neither order from Doi Moi, nor visit them in person, again."

"I ordered through DoorDash and had a very disappointing experience. The grilled pork vermicelli (bún thịt nướng) x1 was poorly made—the pork was burnt, blackened, and tasted bitter. It was dry and not enjoyable at all. The fish sauce was also very bland and lacked flavor.
The broken rice with pork (cơm sườn) x2 was not much better. The shredded pork skin (bì) was soggy and slightly slimy, as if it wasn’t fresh, which made it very unappetizing.
On top of that, the order did not include any utensils—no spoon, no chopsticks—which made it very inconvenient to eat.
I also called the restaurant to give feedback and lets them know about it, but the staff were rude, unhelpful, and refused to take responsibility and the man over the phone was so rude and impolite!!The customer service was just as disappointing as the food.
I just had a very poor experience. I definitely do not recommend anyone to try this restaurant!! I would not order again!!"

Since im addicted to spicy food i tend to order extra jalapeños and such and they never fail to deliver. The Steamed Rice Sheets with Grilled Pork (Banh Uot Thit Nuong) meat is also bland. We may order for the crab noodle soup again but nothing else."

" Springtime Roll Solstice - spring rolls were good and hit the spot. I assume the rest is ment to be tost together in some kind of noodle salad? And ment to justify the $20 charge for 5 rolls? There is half a container on noodles and the other half filled with vegetables so in that sence there is a large amout of food. The disappointing thing was that the rolls were placed on topof the noodles and veggies making half of each side soggy instead of crunchy.
Chicken Pho-rtune - can be sum up by saying "bland" If youre sick or have a picky eater this may be just what you need but all the flavor comes from adding sriracha, oyster sauce, or salt even. The noodles and chicken are in a separate bowl from the broth which is not inmy helpful for dividing portions but keeps the noodles from getting mushy. The noodles do stick to hard but as soonas you ad the broth they easily start separating on their own without any effort. I added the egg and I shouldve known better since it was hard instead of runny. "

"We liked everything we ordered - bun Bo hue, mi Bo kho, hen xuc banh da, com ga hai nam, and ca kho to. The Bo kho soup was much looser, more like a broth than a stew like we're used to, but it was still very tasty. I loved that the bun Bo hue came with pork hocks. I can't find that anywhere in DC. Also loved that it's not too spicy. My main complaints are that the ca kho to was too small, they forgot the cracker that was suppsed to go with the hen xuc banh da, and there was only bean sprouts for the bun Bo hue and none of the other veggies."
