"Firehouse subs are superior to every other version of this type of sandwich that I've personally experienced. I'm not claiming to be some kind of expert, but given the limited range of sub joints in my general area Firehouse is better. I don't mean by a little bit, I mean they are WAY better.
It's the texture. The balance of sauce and solid ingredients as well as the bread softness. It made me realize that every other sub I've eaten has usually been a dry laborious process of choking down a thick slab of tough bread with stuff inside.
