Red Pearl Restaurant Review
Red Pearl continues to be one of the most reliable spots in Birmingham for authentic Chinese flavors, and this visit was no exception. I ordered the salted crispy chicken with steamed rice, opting to leave off the jalapeños since I don’t do heat. The seasoning was milder than I expected “I anticipated a slightly saltier profile,” but the flavor was still enjoyable and paired well with the rice. The chicken wasn’t as crispy as usual, but the taste remained solid, especially after adding a touch of Cajun seasoning, which rounded it out perfectly.
My daughter ordered the beef rice noodles, which came out fresh and flavorful, consistent with Red Pearl’s standard. What keeps me coming back is the familiarity: the freshness, the taste, and the authenticity remind me of the Chinese food I grew up with in Los Angeles. For Birmingham, Red Pearl remains one of the closest experiences to true, traditional Chinese cooking. (only missing a star because I was expecting the chicken to be a little salty not extremely salty but at least some salt to it because that’s what was described). Considering is my first time trying this particular dish out, I had to be fair."

The orange chicken was the perfect amount of crunchy, sweet & spicy. Egg roll is traditional, not heavy on cabbage or meat or seasonings. Hot and Sour soup had the right portion of ingredients and lots of flavor.
