"Firehouse subs are superior to every other version of this type of sandwich that I've personally experienced. I'm not claiming to be some kind of expert, but given the limited range of sub joints in my general area Firehouse is better. I don't mean by a little bit, I mean they are WAY better.
It's the texture. The balance of sauce and solid ingredients as well as the bread softness. It made me realize that every other sub I've eaten has usually been a dry laborious process of choking down a thick slab of tough bread with stuff inside. The Three Bavarian-style Pretzilla Twists were tough and stale. They tasted like they had been sitting out for a few days. The one suggestion I have would be to bring back an option to sub shredded parm for grated - I would happily pay a bit more to be able to do this without having to call and ask to sub. The grilled chicken breast I ordered with it had to have been 1/2 of a chicken breast at the most as there was only 3 small pieces of chicken in the dish. Definitely be sure to order extra sauce on the side like I did as the dish was pretty dry & it was definitely needed.
