"I had a wonderful experience enjoying the Dal Tadka and Aloo Paratha at this restaurant. The dal tadka was rich, flavorful, and perfectly tempered with aromatic spices, giving it a comforting homemade taste. The aloo paratha was soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and generously filled with well-seasoned potato stuffing. Served hot with fresh accompaniments, the meal was satisfying and authentic. Overall, the quality of food and taste exceeded expectations, making it a great place for anyone craving delicious Indian comfort food."

"I don't know much about curry but this was great. A bit hot for me, but not for my son.! I mistook a dessert as a main course ( labels please) but it was fine with the rice. We were going to have a picnic on my bed. I got lamb biryani. The outside wrapping paper is beautiful but the seal on the bottom opened up & Tons of saffron rice biryani fell all over my bed! They do not say this side up-Open on the bottom! If only. It was still warmish hot. It was a huge amount of rice. More than 2 slender adults could eat at once. I woke up today wanting to eat some more this morning. Im not really a rice person, but this was flavoured so well. The biryani did not look like the photo and I didn't know what went with it as not indicated. The other dishes weren't labelled either. I don't know if we had everything if not. I hope so as it was expensive and more to the point, I wanted to try everything.
I can only assume everything was fresh as a lot of spice and sauce can cover up the basic lamb flavour. These all worked well together. I did not know what the white sauce was but it was a bit like thinned yogurt. Too bad they didn't include a container those coloured seeds- fennel or caraway?to have afterwards-like fortune cookies are added to Chinese orders. It woukd be a nice touch. I got lamb curry but no vegetables! and a huge, salted, flour frisbee round of flat bread that gets hard as it cools. It was fun! It was very messy for us, so have a roll of paper towels there or a stack of napkins-lots of ironing later lol
The very best? the Mango Lassi! Gorgeous jewel orange ! I could have drunk so many more. It is perfect if the food is too hot! Perfect anyway! I don't know what percentage fat is in the thick yogurt but who cares when it's that good! Everything was very well wrapped. The lassi was sideways and not a drop spilled. There were huge straws but no opening in the lids which are flat bottomed bowls.
Not sure what you do with the bowl.
Sure,a ton of plastic wrap and aluminum foil is used. I hope it's recyclable.
We really enjoyed these courses. I have only had curry with vegetables in a meat curry-they were awol-not great for me. I didn't recognize most of the dishes compared to the photos, so I can't indicate a thumb direction. Labels needed. We enjoyed it all and are going to have some watching Nor vs Por lol Cheers!
NB:At least it wasn't a Tim's delivery with the tray dripping wet. Door Dash does not like making refunds no matter if it's groceries (esp) or food. They red flag you &/or say they will get back to you after consideration! Into the ether and no refunds! Despite photos etc."
"Mango lassi was 10/10. Not too sweet, tasted like if a mishti doi was made into a lassi. SO GOOD. The biryani was filled to the brim, and so well priced! Super aromatic and GENEROUSLY spiced, it reminded me of home! "

"Bawara’s Ajmeri Style Biryani was a complete disappointment. We even called the restaurant beforehand to confirm the quantity, but the portion of rice and goat pieces was very small. We ordered the spicy version, but instead of a balanced biryani, we got something overloaded with masala and drenched in oil. It felt more like eating curry than biryani. "The lamb biryani I ordered was excellent. The meat was tender and moist, and everything was nicely spiced without the heat being overpowering. The rice was light and fluffy, with nicely separated grains. Getting a good biryani in the GTA is not easy, so this really hit the spot. In his immortal words: I'll be back."
"We ate here frequently since they opened, but the Bawara's Famous Butter Chicken and Matar Paneer/tofu were overwhelmingly bland on this occassion. The Butter Chicken had only a few pieces of chicken and was mostly flavourless sauce. Really disappointing, this had been our go-to for a while! Unlikely to order again."

"AWESOME. Vegetable Samosa (3pcs) generously sized with a nice crispy edge and Chicken Vindaloo was wonderfully tender, rich in aroma and requested spice level. Absolutely worth the price"
"I ordered the Tandoori Platter. I expected loads of meat, including some Tandoori chicken. For $29, all that came were some veggie patties. Huge disappointment. Anyways, maybe I did not read the menu properly. But, for something called a "tandoori platter," you kind of expect loads of meat, not channa patties."

"Honestly pretty large portions so you get your moneys worth. Also they were more generous than most places with the lamb in the lamb biryani. Very worth the price. Both the 90. Lamb Biryani and the 73. Chicken Lababdar (Chef's Special) have got a small kick to it though so just be a bit wary if you have a low spice tolerance. Overall the food is delicious!"
"Deapite the rave reviews we were disappointed by half rhe meal. The best was the chicken biryani. We loved that dark meat was used in the dish. The beef in the curry was so tender and we would have loved the dish if it wasn't unbearably salty. Aloo gobi is a fave dish but this was overcooked and under spiced. The onion bhaji and naan were ok but nothing special. Portion sizes for the aloo gobi and beef curry are very small for the price."

"I have now ordered the lamb biryani twice in the last week. The first time was because I had a late night craving. The second was because I liked it so much the first time.
It is a generous portion for two (unless, like me, you hate to share treasures like lamb biryani). The lamb is very tender. Mix it up before you eat it because then you get all the flavour - tasty, not greasy.
This one comes with a boiled egg too, and at medium spicy it was the perfect level of spice for someone who has grown up with spicy food. If you are not used to spice, order mild because you can always add hot sauce."
"Horrible, lamb kadai was almost indigestible and the curry to roti ratio was more disproportionate than anything. As for the potato curry, although it was edible, I would not even feed it to my worst enemy. Not authentic Indian at all."

"Palak Paneer has great flavour, but it was the smallest portion I’ve had from anywhere while also being the most expensive I’ve had ($20 without any rice or bread). The Chicken Dum Biryani was tasty. Good portion on those, especially with the 2 for 1 deal. Some rice not spiced, so it could have used a few more stirs in the pot before serving. Would try again, but may try to dine in for better prices/portions on other curries."

"Kalyug is one of my favorite restaurants in Canada. The food always reminds me of home, and honestly, I haven’t found a better taste anywhere else. The quality, flavor, and authenticity are outstanding. For me, Kalyug deserves a full 5-star rating.
I would just like to suggest a couple of small improvements. First, my order did not include disposable cutlery. It would be helpful if cutlery were included with takeout and delivery orders. Even if there is a small extra charge for it, I would not mind paying.
Second, the spicy sauce and the pickled onions (vinegar-marinated onions) were provided in very small quantities. These sides add a lot to the overall meal experience, and it would be great if a little more could be included, especially for regular customers.
Other than these minor suggestions, everything was excellent. The food is consistently delicious, the portions are satisfying, and the taste truly feels like home. I can honestly say that I haven’t had better Indian food anywhere else in Canada. Kalyug has earned my 5-star rating, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, home-style food"
"Overall the value for money was not there. Noodles were good, a quality item. Spring rolls felt like they were cheap frozen, just heated up and served. Green chutney while acceptable was simply too much in terms of quantity.
It seems as though the restaurant has its priorities set on wrong things."

"Ghee Roast Chicken Biryaniis truly above and beyond. Butter Chicken Biryani is a cool fusion"
"I love the Fire Chicken Biryani. Best biryani in toronto. In my opinion, bucket biryani should remove the free raita and salan and slightly lower the price. Not all of us eat that, but would appreciate lower prices.
Also like that it comes in an actual bucket instead of aluminum trays that can cut hands."

I've never had an issue. the best dish on the menu is the NK Grill. Just add on the other kabobs and you're good to go!"
"The Kabob Lover is my go to for family events. it's a nice size portion and I sometimes add on the extra skewers through the add on which is also a good deal for an additional add on. "Maharaja Burger was excellent and very filling.
Desi Ghee Bathure Chole was a bit of a letdown because the curry didn't feel like chole at all, but more like channe. Fluffy bathure, but the chickpea preparation needs to be more traditional and rich."

"This might be the best Indian restaurant we've tried in the Harbord Village/Annex + area. We love the spice level, BEACAISE I LOVE IT! Butter chicken and DAL ARAVALI is amazing, I also really appreciate the nut free dishes as we have an anaphylactic allergy at home and find it hard to eat out"
