"This is elite level comfort/soul food. I've been working my way through the menu and I haven't had one thing that I didn't want more of.
Portions are excellent. Flavor is phenomenal. The $12 deal meals are so far and above fast food in quality that it's hard to justify more on a highly processed burger.
It's slightly imperfect in a way that means it was made from real food, in a real kitchen. Like maybe a tiny bone here and there or a wing that hasn't been fully smoothed. The Mac is creamy. The yams are balanced. The wings are huge.

The collard greens were my litmus test. Boy, I was so pleasantly surprised. So many restaurants fail with the greens. But not Savory Souls Kitchen! That 'potlikka' broth was so rich and flavorful. OMGoodness, I wish I'd ordered 2 servings!
The yams were also good. They were spiced properly. I must honestly admit though, when I compare the restaurants's yams to mine, I like mine better. Still, I was not disappointed with my yams at all last night.
The catering menu seems much more extensive than the restaurant offerings. I know I will use them to help supplement the dishes at my next shindig, whether it's a routine cookout, or a holiday meal!

"It was our1st time ordering from here and was a great experience. From ordering online to being greated once I arrived to pick up my order, the young lady that handed me my food til the last bite! We ordered the Texas Gulf Brown Shrimp and Mac N Cheese. The shrimp were nice size and flavored very well. The Mac and cheese was good however I have had better (not a runny cheese guy). We definitely will be back and might eat in instead of ordering to go."
