They even surprised me with an empanada to try and it was seriously crave worthy! I love fusion food and this is a great spot for it. It was my first time ordering from them but it won't be my last. Semi pros: Chicken 65 gets about as close as any local place as to the sublime chicken 65 from Pre-Covid Haldi Chowk (the current place seems to be different owners).
Decent: Chicken Dum Biryani passable and generously portioned.
Big con: most expensive item on the menu, the Sea & Sea & Sand Signature Murg Mussallam absolute disaster: sauce broken, chicken overcooked to the point of being dry dispite sitting in broken sauce. Just a big whiff. Might have been rescued with a standard rice serving but unfortunately this place has chosen the single cheapest item as the place to economize on their most expensive item: less than a cup of rice was provided, far less than any other place in the area.
Would order again? Yes pakoras. No entrees."

"We sampled their menu via takeout - The reasons I find this to be some of the best Indian food in Monmouth County right now is that they don’t add sugar to everything, they don’t skimp on traditional spices, and it’s clean on the palate, meaning even the fried options are not greasy. When the food is prepared with respect, it shows. I don’t understand some other reviews - our portions were generous, and for an average price we had plenty of leftovers. The samosa chaat street food blew our minds there was so much goodness going on, the variety in texture, temperature, taste was all there - and I was delighted to find a paneer biryani - something most Indian restaurants don’t bother to offer. I’m a traditionalist - I’m always happy to find whole cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, plums and tamarind in my biryanis. Even the side dish of jasmine rice is tasty. Makes we want to go back and try the desserts. I would compare the food of Taj to the upscale Indian restaurant in Red Bank, Bombay River, with more options and not as expensive. Just a delight. "The food is good, but the customer service is consistently poor. We regularly order two full meals, yet they only provide one container of rice. Even when we specifically ask for two separate containers while placing the order, they never do it.
This most recent visit was especially frustrating. When we asked again for the second rice container (which we had already requested), the employee gave us a hard time and essentially told us that if we weren’t going to pay extra, we could leave. He was also unable to clearly explain why two orders are automatically combined into one.
We feel overcharged because we’re paying for two full meals but consistently receiving the sides for only one. Be aware of the unprofessional attitudes and practices like this. It’s disappointing because the food itself is good, but the service makes it hard to keep coming back"

"Chicken biryani was much spicier than expected, with no mention of spice level on the menu. For $17, the portion was overwhelmingly rice-heavy, with only 2 drumsticks and a very small piece of breast, which felt like poor value. The rice was also noticeably oily.
The overall experience was made worse by poor communication. When I called the listed number, there was no introduction of the business, and I had to say hello multiple times before getting a response.
On top of that, the order had to be reassigned after a driver left without the food, which added to the confusion and delay. While that may not be entirely on the restaurant, it reflects a lack of coordination.
Even small details were disappointing—the utensils provided were extremely small and impractical.
Overall, this was a frustrating experience from start to finish. Between the lack of clarity, poor value, and communication issues, I would not order again—especially with better halal options in the area"
